My Mary’s Memory
Mary opened the original Shack in 1959. Immediately, the Shack became a place where friends, family and neighbors gathered. Throughout the nearly sixty years in business, we’ve been fortunate to hear how Mary and her restaurants have impacted the lives of customers, team members and the community. Customers remember Mary serving pizzas in the original Shack. A Mary’s team member described how he met his wife while working at Mary’s. We’ve heard countless stories about families that have developed Mary’s traditions that are being passed down from generation to generation.
Do you have a fond Mary’s memory or fun story that you want to share with us?
We’ll be sharing one Mary’s memory each month on our blog and featuring some of your stories in our cookbook coming out this year!
Mary's Memories
$47,778 Raised for North Bay Fire Relief
On Wednesday December 13th, our CEO (and Mary’s Grandson) presented $47,778 to the Community team of Redwood Credit Union at their corporate office in Santa Rosa.
The donation was a result of November fundraisers held on the first three Tuesdays. 15% of all sales from all 19 locations were donated.
“It was heartbreaking to witness such wide spread devastation across so many of our communities, we knew we needed to do make a meaningful contribution towards helping people recover.’” Says Vince Albano, Mary’s Grandson and CEO of Mary’s Pizza Shack. “Our guests are an extension of our family. I watched from a young age as my Nonny Mary always did what she could to give back. She established this philosophy from the beginning. We will continue to be there for our guests and the community during these unprecedented times”.
In addition to the November fundraisers, Mary’s Pizza Shack will donate $5 for every $50 a guest spends on gift cards and they will also receive $10 in Mary’s Money. This will continue to run through 12/31/17 to maximize additional donations.
Community Strong
These past few weeks have been challenging to witness such devastation in our beloved communities. We have watched as our families, friends, neighbors and so many others have lost everything. Community has always been the backbone of Mary’s Pizza Shack and it made immediate sense to try and figure out a way to help those in need in our neighborhoods.
In an effort to raise funds for the North Bay Fire Relief, Mary’s Pizza Shack will be holding fundraisers at ALL 19 LOCATIONS on the first three Tuesdays in November (11/7, 11/14, 11/21). 15% of all sales will go directly to the North Bay Fire Relief Fund at Redwood Credit Union. That means In House, Take Out/Delivery & Online!
Also during November & December, the 11 Sonoma County Mary’s locations will have barrels to collect non perishable items that will be donated to the Redwood Empire Food Bank.

Food Drive at Mary’s Pizza Shack
Our founder, Mary Fazio, not only knew how to make a delicious meatball, she was also a kind hearted and generous woman. She never wanted her guests to leave the restaurant hungry. Whether it was covering the cost of a meal for someone who couldn’t afford it, or bringing out extra helpings to someone who was going through hard times, her heart is what left the greatest impact on the local community.
It is with Mary’s heart and generosity, that the Mary’s Pizza Shack family gives back to organizations throughout the year. Through Dine & Donates and Charitable Donations, the company donates over $500,000 annually.
With the 2017 Back to School Season upon us and the local hunger crisis growing by the day, it seemed like a no brainer to hold a food drive at all of our stores to benefit our local food pantries.
During the months of August & September, whenever anyone brings in a canned item to their local Mary’s Pizza Shack, they will receive a $5 coupon towards their next purchase.
Food barrels are located in all locations* and we have partnered with the following food banks:
Sonoma County: Redwood Empire Food Bank
Solano & Contra Costa: Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano Counties
Napa: Napa Valley Food Bank
Novato: Food Bank of San Francisco & Marin
**All Mary’s Pizza Shack locations are participating in the food drive with the exception of the locations in Anderson & Redding.
